Do you know?

While John’s was founded in 1989 our history of retail goes back a long way.

This ad ran in the Ladysmith Chronicle April 17, 1920. The Rogers mentioned here is my grandfather John Rogers (father to Jack and Darrell) and the beginning of retail for our family. When Mr Barratt passed away my grandfather and grandmother Mary Rogers (this is where they met)  was a clerk there, expanded into the Ladysmith Trading Co. where I ultimately learned my trade. In 1989 when I opened John’s my dad Jack gave me this advice. “John there is no magic bullet in retail. Just give fair prices, good products and great service”.

Since opening in 1989 we have done our best to bring you only locally made quality products. Our furniture is solid wood and mostly made right here in British Columbia. Our mattresses are flippable, designed by us and most importantly locally made. Canadian made applies to over 90% of the products we carry. BC made is the preference!

“Great products, great service and fair prices” are the 3 things my dad told me I needed to be successful. It was great advice as I’m still here 36 years later, along with my wife of over 30 years and daughter Ashley, preparing for the future.
No gimmicks, no commission sales people, and no sales. Only the best prices every day, means your experience with us won’t be rushed or pressure filled. Fair pricing really is important to us.

We appreciate the community supporting small local businesses like ourselves as we have also stride to do the same.

Best regards,

John Lunn and Ashley
